GeoLogGFZ
GeoLogGFZ is a system fpr the evaluation and visualisation of geo scientific and technical drilling data. GeoLogGFZ is not a new development - it is intended to secure
the continued use of the pratically proven logging software developed as part of Germany's Continental Deep Drilling Program. The system is being developed by the GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) in
cooperation with the Fraunhofer-Institute for Software and System Technology ISST. The aim is to produce a favourable priced, extendable, scalable system which has a convenient user interface and
which runs on various platforms.
Architecture of GeoLogGFZ
The system consists of a number of components which can be run on different computers. This ensures that the computation-bound parts of the application can be allocated to powerful
computers. The system's design allows it to be adapted quickly to new requirements. The individual components can be extended without requiring changes to other parts of the system, e.g. for
processing new data formats on other operating system platforms.
The mathematical computation part of the system is realized as an independent component which provides all basic and the most important mathematical functions. Thanks to the component
architecture, it will not be difficult to supplement or totally replace with another mathematics package in future versions if necessary. So the most common mathematical methods can be
integrated into the system easily.
The user interface of the system meets most modern requirements, e.g. the user can choose functions using menus and tool bars, select and visualize data with drag&drop and use online help.

Application Areas
Support for the evaluation and visualisation of drilling data at local workplaces and in global scientific networks.
Availability
The development of GeoLogGFZ is not yet complete. At the moment, the system is being put through a beta test phase which is carried out by a number of external partner. For free
evaluation you can download the GeoLogGFZ beta version after registration.
Versions
The system is available as a client/server and as a standalone version. The client/server version needs Windows 95 or Windows NT for frontends and Sun Solaris (version 2.4 or higher) for the
server components. The standalone version requires Windows 95 or Windows NT.
To download the Beta-version please submit an e-mail.
